This is the best grilled salmon with Tandoori Spices. The Tandoori spices are actually a paste that you can keep on hand to make a quick meal with any fish, chicken , or pork. The paste is sooo good!!!!!
Tips-First don’t sweat it. If the salmon is fresh and the paste has enough salt you can wing the rest. I used what I had.
- Use any type of greens. just saute with garlic. Use rice, cous cous or what ever
- Don’t sweat the yogurt, make any type of yogurt sauce. The tang and creaminess is what you want.
- I always have Pico around so I used it. It looks good in the photo but taste great in the fish. You can use any salsa, hot sauce, chutney.
The Paste..
You can make it in a mortar and pestle or a blender just grind the spices first for the blender method. You will also have to 5 times the recipe for the blender but don’t worry you will find so many uses for this Tandoori paste.
- 4 six ounce pieces of salmon
- 2 tbsp ginger
- 4 cloves garlic
- 2 tsp cumin (whole seed recommended)
- 2 tsp coriander (whole seed recommended)
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp turmeric
- 3/4 tsp fenugreek. (whole seed)
- 1/2 tsp cayenne
- 2 pinches cinnamon
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp lemon juice (optional)
Combine all the ingredients except the salmon and make a paste.
So Easy
Coat the salmon with the paste and grill or bake it to your desired doneness. Serve with rice, greens, yogurt sauce and salsa.
Don’t forget this paste should be in the fridge always ready for a quick meal. .

Tandoori Spiced Salmon
Make this easy paste and use it on everything.
- Mortar and Pestle
- 4 6 ounce salmon fillet (skin on or off, i like skin on)
Tandoori paste-keep it around it is crack paste
- 2 tbsp fresh ginger
- 4 clove garlic
- 2 tsp cumin (whole seed if possible)
- 2 tsp coriander (whole seed if possible)
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp turmeric
- 3/4 tsp fenugreek
- 1/2 tsp cayenne
- 2 pinch cinnamon
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tsp lemon or lime juice
Put all the ingredients except the salmon in your mortar and pestle and pound into a paste or grind the spices then blend in blender or food processor
Rub salmon with the paste and let sit for a few minutes.
Grill salmon until desired doneness. serve topped with yogurt sauce and pico de gallo
