best easy fish fry

This is such a great easy recipe that needs to be in your rotation!

This crispy fish fry takes me back to the late 1960’s when my Grandma would get all the grand kids together and take us to the Friday night fish fries at St. Columbus Catholic Church.

It was busy and exciting, all of us gathered around a big round banquet table stuffing ourselves with all you can eat fried yellow perch, fries, slaw, and tartar sauce.

Simple Fish, Simple Meal

The crispy fish fish fry recipe is simple and with only a few extra steps and 15 minutes you have a great meal. Fish, fries, slaw, tartar sauce, and corn if you like.

This simple quick delicious meal can feed 3 people for around $10. I used tilapia which is always available fresh and cheap. You can use cod, catfish, pollack, or any flaky whitefish.

Batter

  • flour
  • corn starch
  • baking soda
  • baking powder
  • water
  • seasoning

How

Cut fish into pieces, dip it in the batter, shake of the excess and fry in 350 degree oil. Double fry some potatoes, boil some corn, make some slaw and make a simple tartar sauce. Mayo, pickle relish, yellow mustard, and lemon juice or make a fancy tartar sauce. This fish deserves it. More on the fries and slaw
